Step By Step Guide to Facebook:First Step
The first step in the process of getting into facebook is to go to www.facebook.com
Next click on the sigh up button and you will be taken to a standard form to fill. The cool thing about this is they ask for minimal information at the sign up and allows us to add whatever we need later. This was a real relief for me because I am concerned of my privacy and fed up with certain sites that ask lot of info such as telephone number.
After filling up and entering the tiresome but necessary capture you can instantly enter into your profile. The first thing you should do is add a picture to your profile photo. It’s always better if it is a picture of you (Hey, this is the FACEbook after all!),or something that represent you. I must also add the value of having a clear picture of your face because most of the time we know people by there first name or worse yet nickname. For one there is no way to find a friend from nickname and you will be surprised( or maybe not) how many people are there with the same first name or even surname. The quickest way to confirm that this is your old chum is by the photo. I am telling this from the experience I got while trying to find old school buddies, let me tell you it was very tiresome.
Next you should fill your details, again this is not compulsory, but I do recommend it, at least the basics like your hometown, schools attended, college attended, workplace, religious views etc… The reason for this is two fold
1.As the photo these details confirm who you are to people who look for your from there memory of some fact.
2.This answers the question what sort of person you really are? and help like minded people to build a bond with you. Always remember facebook is not only a place to keep track of old friends but also a place to make new friends.(Make new friends but keep the old one is silver but the other is gold)
After everything about you is set up, the first task I did was(drumroll!!) what else confirm some friend request and then send out some of my own friends request. Take it from me this can be quite addictive as I got carried away trying to find old fiends from school and other courses I attended and it was also very exciting as it brought back some beautiful memories. My advice is don’t get carried away just keep adding few(10) friends per day.
That’s basically what I have been doing up to now but one word on applications before I wind up. My friends send me several invitations to do certain things that need facebook applications installed(don’t worry its very simple process to install). Now what makes facebook unique is these myriad of quality applications and I am really looking forward to using but till now I have resisted jumping into any of them. I will eventually, but I am still thinking of a strategy.
May be I should try the most popular ones first, or the most useful ones, or just add what my friends invite me to add.
Let me know what you think?
